Just Kiddin' Kid Tent Gatefold Card and My Big Oopsie!

I’m a kid at heart. It’s true. Put me at the kid’s table at mealtimes because that’s where I’m most comfortable. 😉 I was blessed to have a fabulous childhood and that childhood included making tents with blankets over the kitchen table. My brother and I would play in there for what seemed like hours. Such sweet memories. This card took me back to that simple time. ❤️

My whole goal with this card was to make the opening look like blankets were tied back and you were looking into a doorway of a kid’s tent. I was super excited to make it come together, and I hope the feeling was conveyed as I see it through the card.

I started by taking a piece of 5½ x 8½ piece of Night of Navy cardstock and scoring it at 2⅛ from each end on the long side (making it a gatefold card.) Then I took my pointed basic border die and die cut each flap of the gatefold as seen. Next is when my mistake happened… 😮

I flipped through my embossing folders and grabbed one that I thought would be PERFECT – without looking to see if it was current. WHOOPS!!! I used one of the Cheery Patterns embossing folders. If I had to do it all over again, I would use the Cascading Ruffles one- so I’m going to link that one below since you can’t get the Cheery Patterns anymore 😉 I wanted the “curtains/blankets” to look like they were pulled back so I got out my trusty Trio Punch and notched on the fold lines (lining it up with the point from the die cut) to make a place to thread the ribbon through.

I only lined it up halfway before punching it.

And a nice place to write a message on the back. My sentiments came from the Lazy Days stamp set. I thought they were perfect for this card.

I cut the li’l kid out with my paper snips and popped him/her up on dimensionals and added them to the bottom of the scene inside.
