I share my passion for stamps, ink & paper with a special flock of ladies called the “Stampin’ Stray Ducklings”. Whenever we’re together, feathers fly because of all the fun we have! Today, my feathered (or notsomuch! LOL) friends & I are featuring Last Chance items. It’s so sad to see items going away, but it’s always fun to get new ones 🙂 Today I chose to break out my Curved Occasions bundle.
I am an 80’s child and I loved to roller skate when I was younger. Now, I’d probably break something, but truth be told, I would still *try* it 😉 There are no roller skating rinks close to me anymore unfortunately 🙁 but oh how I love to reminisce about the fun we used to have! The rinks I used to go to always had a disco ball adding to the ambiance too.
I started my card by putting my Rays of Light stamp on a stamping tool (I used my old Stamparatus that I refuse to part with 😉 ) but you could use a Misti or any other one you may have. I inked up each section in a different color using Sponge Daubers then kept stamping until I got the depth of color I wanted. I stamped the disco ball in Versamark then heat embossed it using the Silver Embossing Power from the Metallics powers. The Skates were heat embossed with black powder from the Basics Embossing Powders pack, heated, then colored with Stampin’ Blends. I cut them out using my snips & popped them up with dimensionals on the Rays layer. The Lemon Lime Twist layer was die-cut using the Scalloped Contours dies and all was added to a Basic White Card Base. The Happy Birthday sentiment was curved in the opposite direction, so I stuck it to my acrylic block then manipulated it opposite of the curve it was meant to be. I wanted to put it below my disco ball instead of above it. I stamped it in Tuxedo Memento Ink and punched it out. I added 3 of the 2022-2024 In Color Pearls to the bottom right then popped it up on dimensionals & added it under the disco ball.
Inside I added a Poppy Parade layer and another Basic White layer with a sentiment from the Very Best Occasions stamp set. I also added a 1″ snip of the retiring Merry Bold & Bright Designer Series Paper. It’s not just for Christmas 😉
I am not even gonna lie, I LOVED making this card today. It really took me back to my youth. I hope you enjoyed it too. Please waddle along with the rest of my Duckling friends and don’t miss my awesome Special Offers below 🙂
